Acast makes it as easy as possible to move your episodes, show notes, and followers with zero downtime. However, as per Spotify for Podcaster's own help site, the process could take up to a week. During that week, your listeners should have no problem listening to your podcast, but we still strongly suggest planning ahead.
Let's get started.
Step 1. Create an account.
Get started here, if you haven't already.
Step 2. Import your podcast
The first page you'll be brought to after creating your account will prompt you to Create New Show or Import existing Show.
If your podcast has already been submitted to Apple Podcasts, you can easily search for the podcast and select it for import.
Otherwise, you'll need to retrieve your RSS feed URL in the input field. To find that, you'll need to go to Settings> Podcast Availability > RSS Distribution.
Step 3. Go to your Spotify for Podcasters (formerly Anchor) dashboard to begin your 301 redirect
As per Spotify for Podcaster's help site, you will need to take the following steps:
Log into your Spotify for Podcaster's account on the web
Click 'Settings' in the top right of your screen
Click 'Podcast settings'
Scroll down to 'More Actions' & 'Redirect your podcast' and insert your Acast RSS feed into the box provided for Redirect URL
Click redirect (see image above)
You can learn more about where you can find your Acast RSS URL here.
4. Ensure that your new host is reflected in Spotify
Spotify should be the only major podcasting platform that you will need to manually update with your new host. Luckily, we have a simple guide here. You may also find this article about obfuscating your email helpful.
If you aren't seeing your new episodes in Apple after your redirect, we'd advise checking in your Apple Podcast Connect just to make sure all looks right, or reach out to Apple directly.
Done!
Remember: it’s important that you keep your Spotify for Podcaster's account for a month after switching to ensure that the redirect is successful.
