Get Started with Transcripts

Learn how to create and manage transcripts for your episodes. Available for paid plans only.

Updated this week

We’re excited to introduce transcripts, a new feature available to all paid plan creators.

Transcripts make it simple to generate text versions of your episodes on demand, so you can quickly review, highlight, and repurpose your content.

Why Transcripts Matter

Creators already spend significant time managing and promoting their shows. Writing titles, summaries, and promotional copy can be time-consuming, especially when relying on memory or re-listening to full episodes.

With transcripts, you can:

  • Quickly review your own content

  • Highlight key moments worth sharing

  • Repurpose material across social posts, show notes, or captions

  • Improve accessibility for your audience

How to Use Transcripts

  1. In your dashboard, go to Episodes and open the episode you want to transcribe—or create a new episode.

  2. In Episode Details, once your episode is encoded in the Audio section, scroll down to the Transcript section.

  3. When the “Ready to Transcribe” status appears, click “Transcribe Episode.”

  4. Wait for the transcription to finish. It can take from a couple of seconds to several minutes, depending on the episode length, audio quality, and server load.

Tip: You can still do other tasks and visit other pages (as long as you save the episode as a draft) while an episode is being transcribed. You'll be notified via email once the transcript is ready.

  5. Once ready, you can:

    • View the transcript

    • Show or hide timestamps

    • Copy the text

    • Download

Availability

Paid plan users can access this feature. It is currently not available for Starter plan users.

FAQ

Can I attach transcripts to my episode?

While Acast doesn’t currently offer a way to attach transcripts directly to episodes, you can copy and paste the transcript once it’s generated. You can then add it to any post/document and include a hyperlink to that post in your episode description.

If I make a change to an episode's audio file, how long does it take for the transcript to get updated?

The new transcript isn’t generated automatically. Once your updated audio is encoded, you’ll need to request a new transcript. The time it takes depends on how long the audio takes to be fully processed

What if I don’t want a transcript for my episode?

The transcript tool only creates a transcript when it’s requested, so nothing is generated automatically.

Can I use transcripts with the Starter plan?

Currently, the transcript feature isn’t available on the Starter plan.
