Analytics: Understanding Uniques

See how many different people you’re reaching, whether they’re listening or watching

Uniques show you how many different people are consuming your show. This is different from the total listens and views in Content Performance - it’s not just plays, but the number of people behind them.

You’ll find Uniques in the Audience tab, which shows one show at a time. Think of it as the size of your audience.

Counting Uniques

The Uniques section has three overview stats and a uniques-over-time graph.

  • Unique listeners: people who listened.

  • Unique viewers: people who watched, for shows with video on Apple Podcasts.

  • Unique listeners and viewers: a combined figure with the overlap removed.

A uniques-over-time graph shows how your reach is trending.

Why the numbers of listeners and viewers don’t add up

The combined figure counts each person once. Someone who both listened and watched appears in both individual stats, but only once in the combined number.

How Acast calculates unique listeners

We work out who a listener or viewer is by combining location data (IP address) with platform data (user agent). In a 24-hour window, it’s the industry standard to count each unique combination as one person.

Uniques over a period

Uniques over a period aren’t the sum of your daily uniques. We recalculate them to account for people who listen more than once.

For example, someone who listens on Monday and Wednesday counts twice across those two days. In the weekly view, they count once.
