As an Apple Podcasts video creator, you now have early access to our brand new Analytics tabs.
Right now, you can find these new tabs tucked under the 'Revenue' dashboard. We know that name is a bit misleading since these tabs cover your content and audience data too, but once we have added more features to the new tabs, we will shut down the old Insights dashboard and rename “Revenue” to “Analytics”, giving you one hub for all your podcast analytics.
These new tabs include HLS Apple data (the technology behind video streaming on Apple Podcasts) as well as RSS data so they are your new source of truth for podcast analytics. Because Insights does not track HLS data, you can expect your old Insights dashboard stats to decline as your audience moves over to consuming HLS audio and video via Apple Podcasts.
Because the new tabs are still in early access, there are a couple of important details about what your data does and does not show yet:
Unique counts will look lower at first. The unique listener and viewer metrics in the audience tab (under Revenue) does not include HLS data yet. We are shipping a full update later this summer, but until then, your uniques figures will show a decline here if you publish video to Apple (due to your audience streaming your content via HLS instead of RSS).
Insights and the new Analytics Hub (Revenue) measure different things. Most podcast players use a delivery method called RSS. However, when you distribute a video episode via Apple podcasts, whether or not your audience listens or watches the video, the episode is delivered by a method called HLS. Our 'Insights' dashboard does not track Apple HLS data. The new hub tracks both HLS & RSS data. Because the two sections measure different things, the numbers will not match if you compare them side by side.
While these new tabs are currently only available to creators enabled to distribute video to Apple Podcasts, we plan to roll them out to all creators in the future.
