Video on Apple: Publishing and Distribution

How do I publish a video episode?

Publishing video works within the same flow as audio:

  1. Click New Episode

  2. Upload your video file

  3. Add episode details

  4. Publish or schedule

If video is enabled for your show, the video upload option will be available by default.

What happens when I upload a video?

When you upload a video:

  • The audio is extracted from the video

  • The audio is distributed everywhere (via RSS)

  • The video is distributed to Apple Podcasts

Your video becomes the source for both formats.

Can I upload separate audio and video files?

Not at the moment. The audio used across all platforms is taken from your video file.

👉 Make sure your video audio works well as an audio-only experience.

Can I publish video for episodes I already released as audio?

Not yet - support for back catalogue publishing is coming soon.

Can I still publish audio-only episodes?

Yes. You can choose to publish audio-only episodes at any time. These will be distributed as normal across all platforms, including Apple Podcasts.

Where will my video be available?

Currently:

  • Video → Apple Podcasts only

  • Audio → All platforms (via RSS)

Will this affect my analytics?

Some video consumption may not yet appear in your standard dashboard. We will be rolling out improved analytics for video.

Will this affect my revenue?

There will be no immediate impact. Audio ads and sponsorships continue as normal while video monetisation evolves.

Can I stop publishing video?

Yes - you can choose to publish each episode as either video or audio. You are not locked in to one or the other.
