Apple Video/HLS common concerns

Noticed a change in your Insights stats?

If you see a decrease in your Insights dashboard after onboarding with video on Apple Podcasts — don’t worry, your audience hasn't disappeared.

When listeners update to the latest version of iOS, video episodes become available on Apple Podcasts. Video podcast episodes (whether they are watched or listened to) are delivered via HLS instead of RSS:

  • Insights Dashboard: Only track listens delivered via RSS.

  • Content Performance tab: Tracks both RSS and HLS data.

To see your complete, accurate stats, please refer to the Content Performance tab in the ‘Revenue’ dashboard.

Note: Content Performance includes data starting from October 2025.

How does Apple’s auto-download feature affect the numbers?

Apple automatically downloads audio for your followers, so Audio Downloads may be higher than expected straight after release. An audio download becomes a view if at least 30 seconds of video is watched.

As HLS is an emerging format, measurement standards are still evolving, and methodologies may change as the industry continues to refine how HLS consumption is defined and tracked.

Why are the new analytics tabs under "Revenue"?

Currently, our analytics tools are in a transition phase. You will find the new tabs under Revenue for now. Once the new tabs match every single tool found in the Insights dashboard, we will close down Insights, rename “Revenue” to “Analytics” and give all creators access to the new hub.
