Norway: Information Regarding Invoicing and VAT
Updated over 2 weeks ago

As a podcaster, it's your responsibility to stay informed about and comply with your country's tax laws. The following information is intended to assist you in preparing for the upcoming changes to Acast's invoicing process and is current as of February 2025.

Key Details:

  • Local Entity: The local entity in your market is Acast Stories AS. Please include these details on all invoices.

  • Invoicing Address: Send all invoices to podinvoice@acast.com. This will automatically enter your invoices into our system.

Additional VAT Guidance:

To invoice Acast, podcasters in Norway should operate as a sole proprietor (which provides an "organisasjonsnummer" or organization number) or have a registered business. Private individuals can create invoices through gig-economy platforms such as Frilans Finans, which allows individuals to invoice professionally.

You can read more about registered businesses and obtaining an 'organisasjonsnummer' here: https://www.skatteetaten.no/bedrift-og-organisasjon/starte-og-drive/

VAT Requirements:

  • VAT Registration: If your annual turnover exceeds NOK 50,000, you are required to register for VAT with the Norwegian Tax Administration (Skatteetaten). You can register online through Altinn.

  • VAT Invoicing: If you are VAT registered, you must include VAT (currently 25% for most goods and services) on your invoices to Acast. Your invoice must also include your organization number and other required information.

  • VAT Returns: VAT registered businesses must submit regular VAT returns to Skatteetaten.

Disclaimer: This guidance is for informational purposes only and should not be considered tax advice. Please consult with a qualified tax professional for personalised advice on your VAT obligations.
