As a podcaster, it's your responsibility to stay informed about and comply with your country's tax laws. The following information is intended to assist you in preparing for the upcoming changes to Acast's invoicing process and is current as of February 2025.
Key Details:
Local Entity: The local entity in your market is Acast Stories Pty Ltd. Please include these details on all invoices.
Invoicing Address: Send all invoices to podinvoice@acast.com. This will automatically enter your invoices into our system.
Goods and Services Tax (GST) Guidance:
The application of GST to your invoices depends on your business structure and registration status. Please review the following scenarios:
Companies: Companies must include GST on their invoices.
Private Individuals Registered for GST (Sole Traders/Freelancers): Individuals operating as independent contractors/freelancers with a valid Australian Business Number (ABN) and GST registration must include GST on their invoices. You can verify your ABN and GST registration status here. Please ensure you complete the Tipalti portal to register your GST and ABN so Acast can correctly apply GST to your payments.
Private Individuals Not Registered for GST: If you are not registered for GST, you can continue to invoice Acast without including GST. Click here for more information.
Some additional considerations:
GST Registration: In Australia, there is a GST registration threshold (currently AUD 75,000 turnover excluding GST), but voluntary registration is possible even if your turnover is below this threshold. We recommend consulting with a tax professional for personalized advice regarding your GST obligations.
Acast is not obligated to determine whether you should be registered for GST.
