If you're considering moving your podcast to Acast, you may be wondering if it is possible to import or upload your historical download data from other hosting platforms. Unfortunately, this is not possible. In this article, we will explain why and provide some helpful tips for managing your data when switching to Acast.
Why can't I import my historical download data?
At Acast, we take data integrity very seriously. This means that we want to ensure all the data in our system has been correctly processed and filtered to provide accurate insights for our users. We receive a lot of raw download data from various platforms, and we use industry standard filters to process this data. However, we cannot guarantee that other hosting platforms have used the same filters to our high standards. Therefore, we cannot add this data into our own databases for use in your Insights dashboard.
What can I do instead?
If you're leaving another hosting platform and want to keep a record of your historical download data, we recommend downloading a data export before you switch to Acast. Most hosting platforms provide this option, and it'll allow you to refer back to your data if needed. While we understand that it may be frustrating not to have all your data in one place, we believe that providing accurate and reliable data is more important for our users.
