Connecting your Acast podcast to Patreon

How to start fresh and set up a new show on Patreon

Updated over a week ago

Acast makes it easy to connect your podcast with Patreon, allowing you to publish episodes directly to your Patreon tiers.

Setting up your integration

  1. Connecting your Patreon account

Once you have created or imported a show on Acast, you can then connect your Patreon account. Simply go to Account > Settings > Integrations, and then enable the Patreon toggle.

If you came here directly from Patreon, this is likely already done for you.

  2. Activating the integration for your podcast

Click back over to “Shows” and click on the show you created. Click the “Promotional Tools” tab. Enable the switch for Patreon.

Once completed, a green check mark appears near a "Deactivate" button.

You’ll see there is an option to Include membership link in show notes. This feature automatically adds your Patreon Subscribe URL (with customizable text) to your podcast episode and show notes. This is a great way automatically to remind listeners to become supporters!

Once you’ve connected your account to Patreon, you will be able to assign new and existing episodes to Patreon tiers.

Keep in mind that your Acast episodes won't automatically publish as posts on your Patreon page. Episodes will appear for your Patreons as usual though in their podcast apps where they are subscribed. If you want your episode to also be visible in the Patreon feed with your posts, you will have to create a post manually.

Adding a tier to an episode

For a new or existing episode, you will be able to choose which Patreon Tier(s) your episode will be available to by going into "Publish Settings".

Select the tier(s) you wish to make this episode available for, then publish your new episode, or save your existing episode.

Note: If you leave an episode without a tier, then it's a public episode. Having some public episodes is a great way to give interested followers a taste of your work, as well as a clear way to encourage them to become patrons of your exclusive episodes. Public episodes are available both on the public version of the feed, and in your members' private feeds.

You can also assign episodes to a Tier in bulk.

In the episode list, you can select which episodes you would like to assign to the tier, and then choose the Assign Tiers dropdown menu on the right.

Remember, if you want a specific tier to have access to an episode, you must expressly add that tier. So, for example, if you want Silver tier members and Gold tier members to have access, you must assign BOTH Silver tier and Gold tier to that episode.

Complete your Patreon integration

Now you will see a notification about an important final step: you need to enable Acast in your Patreon RSS Settings to deliver your feed to patrons.

This will ensure that:

  • Your existing members will have uninterrupted access to your episodes

  • New members get easy access to your show on their app of choice

On the Patreon creator Page Settings, scroll to the bottom and make sure that "Acast RSS Feed" is enabled. If is not, click on "Get Started with Acast" where you'll need to log in to your Acast account. Once the setup is completed, go to your Patreon dashboard and click 'Saved.'"

That's all set! If you have completed these steps, then you can go ahead and dismiss the notification on your Acast page.

Now, check out how your new members can access your bonus content with your Patreon Podcast Subscribe Link.
